Taiwan Arboriculture Society (TWAS) www.twas.org.tw is a non-profit organization formed in 2014 by a group of academic professors, government officials, architects and designers , landscape companies, and arborists who are concerned about the urban forestry. TWAS helped to enact the Tree Protection Chapter of Forestry Act to protect the urban forestry especially the heritage trees. By holding regular conferences on urban forestry, TWAS has become the spokesman of the urban greening and worked closely with the government and landscape industry. TWAS is an Associate Organization of International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and holds Arborists and Tree Climbers Certification Exam twice a year since 2015. Up to 2017, there are 203 Certified Arborists and 10 Certified Tree Climbers in Taiwan.
